Rink Hockey towards the World Roller Games Nanjing 2017

The 2017 WRG Rink Hockey Championships draw took place yesterday in Barcelona. In Nanjing there will be 23 teams playing in the Senior Male, 12 teams in the Senior Female and 13 in the U-20 Male. All the championships will be played with a new formula, designed to avoid competition between teams with unbalanced technical skills.

SENIOR MALE CHAMPIONSHIP
The 23 teams are divided into three different competitions, following their placement in 2015 World Championship. The most important one is the World Cup (first eight teams classified in 2015). The teams classified from 9th to 16th place will play for the FIRS Cup, while all the others team will compete in the Confederation Cup.
Every competition is made by a first phase with two groups of four teams playing each other in one single round, and by a second phase with knock-out games from quarterfinals to finals.
To the knock-out phase of the World Cup go the first, second and third teams classified of each group of the first phase of the World Cup and the first classified team of each group of the first phase of the FIRS Cup. The fourth classified of the groups of the World Cup will play in the knock-out phase of the FIRS Cup.
During the draw, Argentina (World Champion in 2015) and Spain (2nd in 2015) were head of series. These are the groups of the Senior Male World Championship - WRG Nanjing 2017

WORLD CUP
Group A: Argentina, France, Portugal, Italy
Group B: Spain, Germany, Chile, Mozambique
FIRS CUP
Group A: Macao, Austria, Colombia, South Africa
Group B: Angola, Brazil, USA, The Netherlands
CONFEDERATION CUP
Group A: New Zealand, Chinese Taipei, India, Israel
Group B: Egypt, Japan, Australia

SENIOR FEMALE CHAMPIONSHIP
The 12 teams are divided into two competitions, following their palcement in 2016 World Championship: the World Cup (first eight teams classified in 2016) and the FIRS Cup (all the other teams).
The World Cup is made by a first phase with two groups of four teams playing each other in one single round, and by a second phase with knock-out games from quarterfinals to finals.
The FIRS Cup is made with a 2-round round-robin between the four teams.
During the draw, Spain (World Champion in 2016) and Portugal (2nd in 2016) were head of series. These are the groups of the Senior Female World Championship - WRG Nanjing 2017

U-20 MALE CHAMPIONSHIP
The 13 teams are divided into two competitions, following their placement in 2015 World Championship: the World Cup (first eight teams classified in 2016) and the FIRS Cup (all the other teams).
The World Cup is made by a first phase with two groups of four teams playing each other in one single round, and by a second phase with knock-out games from quarterfinals to finals.
The FIRS Cup is made with a one-round competition between the five teams.
During the draw, Portugal (World Champion in 2015) and Spain (2nd in 2015) were head of series. These are the groups of the U-20 Male World Championship - WRG Nanjing 2017
